“Ode to Nature (part I)” is a series of 100 photographs depicting our Florida landscape, with a focus on the details of the local luscious trees, plants and flowers. Most of these photographs were shot in my neighborhood of El Portal and Miami Shores. The complete series will comprise 1,000 photographs. 

 

it began several years ago. While driving to the grocery store, I saw a blooming tree so beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. At the same time, I came to the realization that I had been driving that very street for almost a decade without truly noticing the magnificence of the tree. This experience had a profound effect on my psyche, my perception, and my immediate environment was forever enhanced.

I started to walk often and walk a
lot – I had to make up for all the wonders I had missed - and re-discovered "my" streets through the prism of transformed eyes. Little parts of the foliage were now jumping out at me and I instinctively turned my lens to the sensuality, the eroticism, the decay, the abstraction, the poetry of these details that had too long eluded me, hoping now to capture the exuberance and beauty of Mother Nature that exists only a few steps from my front door…..
